Doobies' Designs Shop on Etsy

Overview
My Role
The Doobies' Designs Etsy Shop project involved creating and managing a branded online storefront focused on handcrafted gemstone jewelry and accessories. The project included brand development, product photography, product listing creation, promotional graphics, and storefront design to create a consistent shopping experience for customers.
Over the first year, the shop grew to 58 active products supported by original product imagery, earned a 4.9-star customer rating, and generated 35 sales while establishing a recognizable brand presence on Etsy.

Project Background
The Doobies' Designs Etsy Shop was created as both a small business venture and a creative testing ground for developing practical skills in branding, product design, photography, marketing, and e-commerce management. By building and managing a real online storefront, I was able to gain hands-on experience creating products, presenting them to customers, and understanding how design decisions impact the overall shopping experience.
The shop specializes in handcrafted gemstone bracelets and gemstone phone lanyards, allowing me to explore product development from concept to completion. Through this project, I designed branding materials, created product photography, developed marketing graphics, organized product categories, and managed product listings while maintaining a consistent visual identity across the storefront.
As the shop expanded to 58 products and earned a 4.9-star customer rating, it became an opportunity to apply creative skills in a real-world environment while building the knowledge and experience needed to design and support professional e-commerce websites and digital storefronts.

Brand Development
& Identity
Creating a strong visual identity was one of the first steps in building the Doobies' Designs brand. I designed the original logo using the initials "DD" combined with gemstone-inspired elements to reflect the shop's focus on handcrafted gemstone jewelry.
As the business grew, I developed multiple logo variations to support different marketing and branding needs. The original black logo served as the foundation of the brand and worked well for documents, product cards, and simple applications.
A white transparent version with a subtle drop shadow was later created for use on product photography, promotional graphics, and social media content where a dark logo would be difficult to see. Most recently, I developed a full-color version that incorporates the brand's visual style and provides a more distinctive look for storefront banners, marketing materials, and digital branding.
Creating multiple logo versions helped maintain consistency across different platforms while ensuring the brand remained recognizable in a variety of formats and backgrounds.

Product Development
As the shop expanded, I developed multiple product categories to appeal to different customer interests and purchasing preferences. Rather than focusing on a single product type, I organized the catalog into distinct collections including single bracelets, bracelet stacks, bracelet sets, and gemstone phone lanyards.
Each category required its own product photography, listing strategy, and visual presentation while maintaining a consistent brand identity. This approach allowed the shop to grow into a catalog of 58 products while providing customers with a wider range of options and price points.
Single Bracelets
Single bracelets served as the foundation of the product catalog. These designs focused on individual gemstone combinations, allowing customers to choose styles that matched their personal preferences while establishing the shop's core product line.

Bracelet Stacks
Bracelet stacks combined multiple complementary bracelets into coordinated sets. These products offered customers curated gemstone combinations while showcasing how individual pieces could be styled together as a collection.

Bracelet Sets
Bracelet sets expanded the product line by creating themed bundles designed around specific colors, interests, or occasions. These products encouraged larger purchases while providing a complete coordinated look.

Phone Lanyards
Gemstone phone lanyards introduced a functional accessory category to the shop. By combining practical everyday use with handcrafted gemstone designs, these products expanded the brand beyond traditional jewelry while maintaining the shop's focus on quality materials and visual appeal.

Product Photography & Visual Assets
Creating the products themselves was only part of the process. Successful e-commerce listings require a variety of visual assets that help customers understand the product while improving visibility within Etsy's search and recommendation systems.
For each product, I developed multiple supporting images including thumbnail photography, lifestyle and display photos, packaging visuals, and informational graphics. These assets helped answer common customer questions, showcase product quality, and provide a more complete shopping experience.
By creating a consistent visual system across the storefront, I was able to support a catalog of 58 products while maintaining a recognizable brand identity and improving product discoverability throughout the Etsy marketplace.
Thumbnails
Purpose: First Impression & Product Identification
The thumbnail image served as the primary visual customers saw in Etsy search results. These images were designed to clearly showcase gemstone colors, bracelet design, and overall product quality while maintaining a consistent visual style across the storefront. Consistent thumbnails helped strengthen brand recognition and made it easier for customers to browse the growing catalog.

Display Rack
Purpose: Product Presentation & Scale
Display rack photographs were created to present multiple bracelets in a clean, organized environment. These images helped demonstrate size, color variation, and collection options while giving customers a better understanding of how products appeared in a real-world setting. The display photography also created a more professional storefront presentation.

Packaging Options
Purpose: Communicating Value & Customer Expectations
Packaging images were developed to clearly show how products would arrive to customers. By displaying the included gift box and presentation materials, these assets helped answer common customer questions while reinforcing the brand's focus on quality and presentation. These images also added perceived value to the overall product experience.

Information Slides
Purpose: Education & Product Storytelling
Educational gemstone slides were created to provide additional information about the materials used in each bracelet. These graphics explained gemstone names, traditional associations, and design themes while adding visual variety to the product gallery. The slides helped customers better understand the products and created a more engaging shopping experience.

Editing Images for Constistancy
As the product catalog expanded, maintaining a consistent visual style across dozens of listings became essential. Rather than editing each image individually, I developed a repeatable Photoshop workflow that standardized product positioning, sizing, and composition. This process reduced editing time, improved visual consistency across the storefront, and allowed new products to be added efficiently while maintaining a professional brand presentation.
Templates Semi-Transparent
Purpose: Creating Repeatable Product Photography
To ensure products appeared in consistent positions across multiple listings, I created semi-transparent Photoshop templates that served as visual guides during editing. These overlays allowed new product photos to be aligned with previous images, ensuring logos, product placement, and supporting graphics remained in the same location throughout the storefront.
During product photography sessions, physical setups were also standardized whenever possible. In this example, the bracelet display case was temporarily secured to the shooting surface so it would remain in the exact same position while different bracelets were swapped in and out. This approach made it easier to capture a large number of products with consistent framing and reduced the amount of adjustment needed during editing.

Overlay Template & Resize
Purpose: Positioning and Scaling Products
Once photographs were imported into Photoshop, the semi-transparent template was used to resize and position products within a standardized layout. The overlay provided a visual reference that ensured each image maintained consistent spacing, proportions, and overall composition.
Using this method allowed products to be updated quickly while preserving a uniform appearance across the shop. The process helped create a cohesive customer experience and strengthened the visual identity of the storefront.

Export Finished Image
Purpose: Finalizing Listing Assets
After products were aligned and adjusted within the template, the completed image was exported using standardized dimensions and settings for Etsy listings. This final step ensured that all product images displayed consistently in search results, category pages, and storefront collections.
By combining standardized photography setups with reusable Photoshop templates, I was able to efficiently create and maintain visual assets for a growing catalog of products while supporting a professional and recognizable brand presentation.

Social Media Content Creation & Strategy
As the Etsy shop expanded, social media became an important tool for promoting products, communicating with customers, and building brand recognition. To support the storefront, I created a variety of promotional graphics tailored to seasonal events, product launches, and special collections. These posts were designed to maintain a consistent visual identity while helping attract new customers and encourage repeat engagement across multiple platforms.
By combining product photography, branding elements, and custom graphic design, I developed social media content that reinforced the shop's personality and supported ongoing marketing efforts throughout the year.
Holiday Promotions
Purpose: Seasonal Marketing & Customer Engagement
Holiday and seasonal promotions were created to highlight products during key shopping periods throughout the year. These graphics combined product photography with themed backgrounds, typography, and visual effects to create attention-grabbing posts that aligned with specific events such as Veterans Day, Halloween, and Christmas gift-giving campaigns.
Creating seasonal content helped keep the storefront active, provided opportunities to feature products in new ways, and allowed the brand to participate in timely conversations that were relevant to customers throughout the year.

Announcement Posts
Purpose: Product Launches & Collection Promotion
Announcement graphics were developed to introduce new products, promote featured collections, and communicate special sales events. These posts highlighted specific products while maintaining consistent branding, helping customers quickly recognize content associated with the shop.
By creating dedicated promotional graphics for new releases, product collections, and sales campaigns, I was able to showcase products beyond Etsy listings and create additional marketing assets that supported customer awareness and product discovery.

Etsy Store Management & Operations
Operating the Etsy shop required much more than creating products and marketing materials. In addition to developing the brand and product catalog, I managed day-to-day storefront operations including listing creation, customer communication, order fulfillment, and performance monitoring.
Through Etsy's seller platform, I gained hands-on experience with e-commerce management by maintaining product listings, tracking shop performance, responding to customer feedback, and processing orders. These responsibilities helped support business growth while providing practical experience with real-world online retail operations.
Store Dashboard
Purpose: Monitoring Shop Performance & Business Activity
The Etsy Shop Manager dashboard served as the central hub for daily business operations. Through this interface, I monitored shop traffic, customer activity, listing performance, and overall store health.
The dashboard provided insights into visits, orders, revenue, and customer engagement, allowing me to evaluate marketing efforts and identify opportunities for improvement. Regular review of shop analytics helped guide decisions related to product development, promotions, and storefront management.

Product Listing Editor
Purpose: Creating & Managing Product Listings
Each product listing required detailed information including photography, descriptions, pricing, variations, and supporting visual assets. I used Etsy's listing editor to organize product content and ensure each item was presented clearly and consistently.
Managing listings involved updating product images, maintaining accurate information, and creating a cohesive customer experience across the storefront. This process helped improve product presentation while supporting search visibility and customer understanding.

Review Management
Purpose: Building Customer Trust & Satisfaction
Customer reviews provided valuable feedback while helping establish credibility for the storefront. Maintaining a positive customer experience required monitoring reviews, responding to customer feedback, and ensuring orders met quality expectations.
The shop achieved a 4.9-star rating through a combination of product quality, clear communication, and reliable fulfillment. Positive reviews strengthened customer confidence and contributed to the overall reputation of the brand.

Order Fulfillment & Shipping
Purpose: Processing Orders & Managing Deliveries
Order management included processing purchases, preparing shipments, generating shipping labels, and tracking deliveries through Etsy's fulfillment tools. This workflow ensured products moved efficiently from purchase to delivery while keeping customers informed throughout the process.
In addition to domestic shipments, the shop successfully fulfilled international orders, providing experience with shipping logistics, delivery tracking, and customer service across different regions. Managing the fulfillment process helped develop practical knowledge of e-commerce operations and online retail management.

Results & Business Impact
The Doobies' Designs Etsy Shop served as a real-world application of the branding, design, photography, marketing, and e-commerce skills developed throughout the project.
